Floriopolis has teamed up with the Panama City Garden Club to create a Secret Garden art installation at the Oakland Terrace Community Center. The educational and immersive exhibit, at 1900 W 11th St, is open to the public 5-7pm, March 13-15. Admission is free.
Led by art installation curator Tesa Burch, Floriopolis Artists, Volunteers, & visitors have created this dreamy and beautiful art installation which seeks to bring a burst of gorgeous blooms to the center of our community. Students from Chautauqua Learn & Serve Charter School, members of Emerald Coast Rotary Special Ops, and members of the Panama City Garden Club also contributed to the hand-made works on display.
The concept was borne from the desire of PC Garden Club meeting host, Cheri Sparks, to make a good impression on the District 2 Garden clubs, as the host location for this annual meeting celebrating 100 years of Garden Clubs in Florida. Knowing that the local chapter of the garden club does not yet have their own building back, as a result of damage from 2018’s Hurricane Michael, Cheri reached out to Floriopolis, the St Andrews Arts Metropolis, to add the creative artistic vibe this concrete block building needed for them to make a strong impact- and to make it open to the public for 3 evenings after their garden club meeting
Floriopolis has extended its open hours to allow for more members of our local community to help make flowers for the Secret Garden and help our local garden club shine as they host the 2024 District 2 meeting. Visitors of all ages are invited to come to Floriopolis Tuesdays 4-6pm, Wed & Thurs 10am-4pm, and Saturdays 10am-2pm, thru March 9th, 2024. In true make’n’take form, Floriopolis visitors, of all ages and no skills required, can make a flower for themselves and one to contribute to the installation.
