NERD Lab Niceville Future Engineers Bootcamp: Build Your Own Lightsaber

Our Future Engineers Bootcamp: Build Your Own Lightsaber has been updated to 2-weeks to give students time to build, troubleshoot, and customize their projects.

Students will build, program, and customize their own lightsaber while gaining practical experience with real electronics tools. Designed as an immersive lab experience, this program emphasizes independence, attention to detail, and persistence through technical challenges.

Week 1: Students focus on electronics assembly and component integration. Using pre-measured internal chassis and guided wiring diagrams, they will install and connect core components, practice soldering, route wiring, and use diagnostic tools to test and troubleshoot their builds.

Week 2: Students shift to programming and customization. They will configure sound, lighting effects, and motion responsiveness, while being introduced to foundational coding concepts and software setup.

Students leave with a fully functional lightsaber and the skills to continue building and improving on their own.
