Our Pedagogy

We are steadfast in our belief that all children can learn when provided with the right opportunities. Research underscores that children excel in learning environments that prioritize their safety, value, and respect, coupled with clearly defined expectations. Our overarching goal is to implement effective programs, actively involve parents, and cultivate a nurturing atmosphere, ensuring the success of every child in contributing positively to the world. Furthermore, we emphasize the significance of a curriculum infused with faith-based values, considering it crucial for instilling resilience and fostering hope for the future in our children. With high expectations for our students, we firmly believe that through collaborative efforts, we can collectively attain any goal.

Join Our School and Experience Success!

Are you looking for a school experience that combines the benefits of independent learning with the advantages of a supportive community? What about flexibility with innovation? Look no further! Our school community is the perfect solution for families who want to provide their children with a well-rounded education in an enriching, academically stimulating, and close-knit environment.

At TBS, we understand that every child has unique learning needs. That's why we make an intentional effort to meet students where they are in their learning journeys, and take them to the next level by teaching them HOW to learn, thus freeing them to choose WHAT to learn. A diverse range of classes and resources can be customized to fit your child's interests, strengths, and goals. From STEM subjects to art, music, and foreign languages, our co-op provides a well-rounded, safe, and flexible environment for children from 5 years of age through 12th grade.

As educators at TBS, we play a vital role in shaping the intellectual development of our students. One of the most effective ways to foster deep understanding, critical thinking, and lifelong learning is through the implementation of a knowledge building curriculum. Moving beyond traditional teaching methods, a knowledge building approach offers a dynamic and transformative educational experience that not only equips students with essential knowledge but also provides them with the skills needed to thrive in a complex and ever-evolving world.

What is it we do as educators?

Cultivating Active and Engaged Learners: A knowledge building curriculum actively engages students in the learning process, transforming them from passive recipients of information to active contributors in their own education. Through inquiry-based learning and collaborative activities, students develop the ability to think critically, ask probing questions, and seek solutions independently. By empowering students to take ownership of their learning, a knowledge building curriculum nurtures a passion for knowledge and ignites intrinsic motivation.

Developing Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving Abilities: In a knowledge building classroom, students tackle authentic problems and engage in real-world applications of their learning. This approach fosters the development of critical thinking skills and enables students to become adaptable problem solvers. By encouraging students to access and analyze information from various sources, they learn how to evaluate evidence, make informed decisions, and think creatively. These skills are not only essential for success in academics but also in the professional realm, where innovation and problem-solving are highly valued.

Fostering Collaboration and Communication Skills: A knowledge building curriculum emphasizes collaborative learning, promoting effective communication and teamwork. Through group discussions, project-based assignments, and peer feedback, students learn to express their ideas clearly, listen actively, and appreciate diverse perspectives. These skills are not only crucial for healthy social relationships but also for succeeding in an interconnected and multicultural society. By nurturing empathetic and effective communicators, a knowledge building curriculum prepares students for the challenges and opportunities of the globalized world.

Encouraging Lifelong Learning: By fostering a love for learning and providing students with the tools to access, evaluate, and construct knowledge, a knowledge building curriculum nurtures lifelong learners. Students are equipped with the skills needed to navigate the vast amount of information available to them, enabling them to engage in ongoing intellectual growth far beyond the classroom. As they become proficient in critical thinking and problem-solving, students are prepared to adapt to new ideas, technologies, and industries throughout their lives.
