The Turkey Creek Nature Trail and Pavilion stands as one of the top attractions in Niceville. The City takes pride in offering an enjoyable experience for all visitors. The Pavilion is an ideal location for gatherings, the swimming areas provide a fun place for families to cool off, and there are peaceful spots to relax and enjoy nature's beauty. Visitors of all ages can be seen canoeing, kayaking, and tubing down the creek. Trail markers describe the vegetation along the boardwalk, and you never know which animals you might spot. There is truly something for everyone at Turkey Creek.
The boardwalk offers plenty of spots to stop and appreciate the wildlife. You can spot turtles, ducks, various bird species, and more. An Eagle Scout project added markers along the trail to identify the different types of vegetation. There are swimming holes and rest areas with benches along the way. Do you enjoy walking for exercise? There's no better place than under the shade of the trees. The boardwalk is 1 mile long, with markers indicating the distance you've covered. The North entrance, which includes a kayak/canoe launch slip, is located on West College Boulevard by the Hawks Landing subdivision. Additionally, this area of the park features three 12' x 20' picnic pavilions and restrooms.
The pavilion is well-equipped with lights, picnic tables, grills, and a beautiful stone fireplace hearth. It's a popular spot for various events such as birthday parties, office gatherings, socials, and team recognition ceremonies. The pavilion operates on a first-come, first-served basis.
