The Walton County School District is proud to announce Youth Leadership Walton in conjunction with the Walton Area Chamber of Commerce and the Workforce Development Board of Okaloosa and Walton Counties. The program started in pilot schools in January 2009. Many counties across the state of Florida and states across the nation are implementing quality Leadership Skills courses to promising high school students.
The purpose of the course is to provide an in-depth study of the leadership techniques of decision making, problem solving, meeting skills, communication, group conflict reduction, time and stress management, evaluation, team building, group dynamics, motivational strategy, and the role of leadership in a democratic society.
The Youth Leadership/Education Council creates a program to educate through experience and motivate our young leaders and enable them to take an active role in their community. This will result in strong leaders who have hope for the future and the tools to influence a positive and progressive community.
