Whether you’re a practicing Buddhist or simply have a desire to learn about other cultures and have new experiences, a visit to the Wat Mongkolratanaram Buddhist Temple will not disappoint.
Enter the small but larger than life temple and you will see golden statues of Buddha, meditation pillows that you and your guests may use, Buddhist monks performing their daily chores and rituals, and more. Wat Mongkolratanaram is also known to host incredible Thai markets on Sundays and festivals for charity, where traditional Thai foods and goods are sold to benefit the temple. The food at the weekly markets is truly authentic and delicious, made all the tastier by the fact that it’s going toward a great cause.
The Sunday market at Wat Mongkolratanaram runs from 10:00am until 1:00pm, during which time you and your guests can pay for tokens and purchase delicious homemade Thai cuisine, such as pad Thai and a traditional meatball soup. Oftentimes, visitors may enter the temple and learn more about Buddhism from the local monks. Visitors are asked to make a small donation to the temple for their charitable causes.
