11/4 - Bouncy Ball Science
RECOMMENDED GRADES: 3-6
Students will learn about polymer science and investigate the effect of starting materials on final properties. Participants will create and test bouncy balls from different compositions to determine the changes in properties like bouncy height, hardness, durability, etc.
11/16 - Intro to Metallurgy
RECOMMENDED GRADES: 4-9
Students will be introduced to the field of metallurgy and the science of molding, melting, pouring and finishing of small castings. Students will create their own metal brain using the sand casting process.
12/14 - Stranded Elf on the Shelf - STEM CHALLENGE
RECOMMENDED GRADES: 4-9
Students will compete in an engineering design challenge to rescue a stranded Elf On The Shelf. They will design, build, and test a vehicle to carry the elf down a zipline to safety.
