Panama City Center for the Arts Teen Sketching Class (ages 13-17)

Join instructor Steven as he will be introducing basic techniques for sketching in pencil. The foundation of this class is based on learning to see and comprehend detail and how to translate that detail to paper using basic graphite pencils. Please see below for a brief description of each week's lesson plan.
Day 1: Learning to See
-Breaking down details into simple lines and shapes.
-Understanding contrast in gray scale.
-Learn how to create composition.
Day 2: Techniques
-Learn how to render an image by combining line & shape details.
-Learn to contrast your drawing as well as light & shadow.
-Learn pencil holding techniques, postures, & movements to achieve desired effect.
Day 3: Reflection
-Review work with fellow students.
-Share learning experience and leverage knowledge & techniques.
-Learn how this focus on detail can be used in various styles and mediums.
Day 4: Have Fun!
-Use knowledge to complete projects.
Classes held Tuesdays, January 7, 14, 21, and 28.
You are welcome to bring your own supplies. However, we will provide all necessary supplies.
