The City of Fort Walton Beach Heritage Park & Cultural Center is proud to announce the grand reopening of the Indian Temple Mound Museum at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026! The museum expansion and renovation have been years in the making, with construction of the new 4,800-square-foot addition completed late last year. The new addition houses a classroom, offices, exhibit storage, and a larger museum store, which opened to the public in November 2025. Since November, staff and volunteers have been renovating the old museum building, making improvements to existing exhibits, and adding new ones. The Indian Temple Mound Museum documents thousands of years of settlement in the area by a variety of Native American cultures, and we’re happy to say that the museum is now ready for the public to explore again! We’ll kick off the grand reopening with presentations and a ribbon cutting at 10 a.m. and FREE admission for the day.
